This section of the site focuses on the world’s major enduring religious traditions.  Each tradition provides distinct theological/philosophical structures which tend to color an adherent’s understanding of the spiritual life in unique ways.  In the more diverse faiths, different sects may even adopt competing philosophies or theologies which seem to be at direct odds with one another, and yet be considered part of the same tradition.

Structurally, for each faith tradition I have included an overview which addresses the broad philosophical outlook and history, as well as pages which focus on distinct sects, with more attention shown to the “contemplative/meditative/monastic” schools within each faith.  It is my conviction that it is within these schools where we find the core similarities among the world’s faiths, despite their competing theological structures.
