Purity of Heart Reflections | What I Need to Give Up

July 16, 2020 in Soren Kierkegaard, Purity of Heart

I need to reject self-will that is not in service of the Ultimate Good.

That’s my personal understanding of the second noble truth of Buddhism.

The origin of suffering/dissatisfaction, trishna, is self-will that is not oriented towards the Ultimate Good. In Christian terms, that’s what needs to be mortified.
